In the world of mental health, a wide range of issues can affect a person. In order to experience proper health and wholeness, it is important to correctly diagnose mental health issues. Once we have done this, we are able to work toward finding the treatment options available to you.

At the office of Stanley A. Cohen, DO we treat the following list of disorders:

  • Bipolar: This is a complex brain disorder that causes extreme mood swings, shifts in energy and activity levels, and ultimately affects a person’s ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. Bipolar is a spectrum disorder with many excellent treatments available.
  • Schizophrenia: A debilitating and chronic disorder that affects 1.1% of the US adult population. Schizophrenia can be extremely difficult to battle. It is characterized by hallucinations, delusions, thought disorder, possible bizarre behavior and unusual perceptions of the surrounding world.
  • Depression: People suffering from depression will notice that it can severely affect and interfere with daily life. While very common, it is also extremely serious, but can get better with treatment through medication, psychotherapies and other methods.
  • ADHD: Attention deficit disorder and attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder are problems with the inability to focus, high distractibility, poor organizational skills as well as possible motor hyperactivity and/or impulsivity. These disorders manifest themselves in different ways and can be effectively treated.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder: Autism is a group of developmental brain disorders, collectively called autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The term “spectrum” refers to the wide range of symptoms, skills and levels or impairment or disability that children with ASD can have.
